To close out Women’s History Month, we’re spotlighting team members across Related Companies—from engineers and project managers to experts in finance and manufacturing—highlighting the diverse career paths and opportunities within construction and development.

Our month-long series celebrating women in construction shines a spotlight on two of our colleagues: Shirley Forer, SVP of construction risk management for Related Companies, and Joanna Bolaños, project manager at Related California. Joanna and Shirley work in distinct areas of this dynamic field, on opposite coasts, yet share a common perspective: Construction offers a welcoming and very engaging environment for women.

Our Women in Construction series highlights Andrea Milner, senior superintendent at Related Midwest, and Patricia Brown, assistant superintendent, who are currently working on 400 Lake Shore Drive. As part of the construction team at 400 Lake Shore Drive, they share how the industry is evolving, with more women stepping into roles across the trades. They also reflect on how, while the work can be challenging, it is rewarding to see a building come to life from the ground up.

In London, we continue to shine a spotlight on women in construction with our Related Argent colleagues Clare Martin, infrastructure development manager, and Jo Tatlow, senior development manager. They reflect on the opportunities they’ve found at Related Argent, from building homes to building careers, and what inspired them to enter this field.

Our series celebrating women in construction continues with a feature on our colleagues at New Hudson Facades, a subsidiary of Related Companies. In this video, Maria, Susan, Carly and Nataša share how they’ve found space to learn, grow and build their careers—and why they encourage other young women not to be afraid to explore opportunities in construction.

Throughout March, in recognition of Women’s History Month, we are proud to highlight the women across our company whose expertise supports every phase of construction—from planning and engineering to technical project management and beyond. In this video, Johanna Ghabour, senior project manager on our New York Design & Construction team, and Lauryn Tacoronte, project manager at Related Affordable, reflect on their career journeys. They discuss opportunities for women in construction and emphasize the importance of supporting one another throughout the industry.

In March, Related California President and CEO Gino Canori served as the moderator for an esteemed panel featuring five Orange County mayors, hosted as part of New California Coalition's board meeting in Newport Beach, CA. The dynamic conversation highlighted how the region's leaders are working together to strengthen its future, with developments like Related Bristol representing an innovative and community-focused approach that the region needs.

Throughout Women’s History Month and to honor International Women’s Day, Related Affordable employees have been wearing purple to draw attention to women's myriad contributions, both in our offices and in our communities. Related Affordable team members have celebrated this tradition for four years running, visibly marking their appreciation for all the women in their lives and around the world who lead and make an impact.

On St. Patrick's Day, Related Midwest team members honored Irish heritage and culture with the Shannon Rovers Irish Pipe Band, known as Chicago's premier pipe band. Related Midwest celebrated the band's 100th anniversary spreading music and camaraderie and their shared commitment to serving the community.

On March 8, Related Midwest employees came together to celebrate women and their global achivements at IWF Chicago's Signature Event: Women Who Make a Difference. Honoring International Women’s Day, the gala brought together leaders across industries for an evening of reflection and inspiration, featuring a keynote address by presidential historian and Pulitzer Prize–winning author Doris Kearns Goodwin on women's resilience and their impact on history.

On March 24, Related Companies hosted 30 high school students from the Business of Sports School (BOSS) as part of Career Discovery Week, a joint initiative of the Partnership for NYC Public Schools that connects students with workplaces across the city to explore future career paths. During their visit to Hudson Yards, students had the opportunity to learn about careers in real estate, hear from the team about development projects and the work behind them and visit Edge.

Related Companies’ summer 2025 intern class has wrapped up an incredible 10-week program in New York, Chicago, Boston and California. From learning about our business from the leadership team to giving back through volunteer activities and connecting at networking events, we are certain that this experience laid a strong foundation for their professional paths!
