What's Happening Around Our Affordable Communities 400 Lake Shore Drive makes history as Chicago's first affordable residence with a preference for cultural workers Related Midwest has announced that the affordable housing waitlist for 400 Lake Shore Drive will open on July 28. The development will bring 635 new residences to downtown Chicago, including 127 affordable homes with preference categories for artists and cultural workers, alongside veterans and working families. As Chicago’s first downtown residential tower to include creatives among its affordable housing preference categories, 400 Lake Shore Drive reflects a commitment to supporting the people who help shape the city’s culture, energy, and identity. The community also represents Related Midwest’s second 80/20 mixed-income development, further expanding access to high-quality housing and creating a more inclusive downtown neighborhood. Related California breaks ground on Corso in Mountain View, CA On May 27, Related California joined development partner Alta Housing, public officials and community members for the groundbreaking ceremony of Corso in Mountain View, CA. In collaboration with the City of Mountain View, Related California and Alta Housing will transform a 1.56-acre city-owned parking lot site into a 100% affordable transit-oriented development, offering 120 residences for low-income families and individuals in need. The conveniently located development will present residents with on-site services provided by Alta, as well as amenities including including a multipurpose community room, teen lounge, central courtyard, bicycle lounge and community-benefit space with ongoing programming. Related Midwest advancing affordable housing in Ann Arbor, MI with 350 S. Fifth Avenue On May 19, Related Midwest and the Ann Arbor Housing Commission announced that work will soon begin on 350 S. Fifth Avenue, Michigan’s largest all-affordable residential development in more than 40 years. When complete, the 20-story community will transform a brownfield site into 330 much-needed affordable residences for low- and moderate-income households, placing residents steps from public transit, jobs and amenities throughout downtown.
