What's Happening Around Our Affordable Communities Related California and BART break ground on the first phase of El Cerrito Plaza On March 5, Related California and BART broke ground on the first phase of the El Cerrito Plaza BART Station development—a major milestone in delivering connected, affordable multifamily housing to the Bay Area. Phase I will deliver 70 affordable apartments to this former existing BART-owned and operated surface parking lot within El Cerrito’s Downtown District. By creating high-quality affordable homes directly on BART land, the El Cerrito Plaza development will increase transit ridership, reduce greenhouse gas emissions and ease the Bay Area’s acute housing shortage.
