Related Midwest and Related Affordable Foundation partner with nonprofit Bookwallah

Related Midwest and Related Affordable Foundation have joined forces with Chicago nonprofit Bookwallah to spread the power of reading to local affordable property residents. With a mission to help children around the world heal from trauma, Bookwallah introduces them to books with in-person reading sessions and "Magic Crates" filled with inspiring books on a diverse range of topics. Bookwallah has held readings and has introduced Magic Crates to three Related affordable residences, leaving a lasting impact on our youngest residents.

Pocket Homes introduces Addiscombe Grove CR0 residence in London

On May 7th, Addiscombe Grove CR0 in London's East Croydon neighborhood launched for qualified first-time home buyers who either live or work in the city. Addiscombe Grove's one-bedroom homes are available for purchase with prices set 20% lower than the market rate. Each well-appointed home also includes access to welcoming communal spaces like the ground-floor lounge, workspaces, wellness room and multiple gardens for relaxation and socializing with neighbors.

Related California and Burbank Housing host construction tour of 3575 Mendocino Avenue

On May 4th, Related California and partner Burbank Housing led a construction tour providing a sneak peek of 3575 Mendocino Avenue in Santa Rosa to Congressman Mike Thompson, Representative of California’s 5th Congressional District; Fiona Ma, California State Treasurer; and others. Formerly the Journey’s End Mobile Home Park that was tragically destroyed in the 2017 Tubbs fire, when completed, 3575 Mendocino Avenue will provide 162 affordable residences to low-income seniors and will be one piece of the mixed-income development featuring 532 units.

Related and JASA open first CareMax in NY, a community health center for low-income seniors

In partnership with CareMax and The Jewish Association Serving the Aging (JASA), Related is proud to announce the opening of New York's first CareMax location on April 26th in Brownsville, Brooklyn. The community health center will provide comprehensive, community-based care in one convenient location serving 30,000 local seniors offering in-house health specialists, social services, transportation, wellness activities, healthy meals and more. Related is advising CareMax on identifying locations that will benefit affordable senior housing communities nationwide, helping provide essential services that will allow seniors to live longer and healthier lives.

We started exclusively as an affordable housing developer in 1972, and today, we are one of the largest developers and preservationists of affordable and workforce housing in the country. Currently, we own and manage 55,000 affordable and workforce housing apartment homes and we are proud to have never converted a single unit of affordable housing to market rate.

Together with LR Contracting Company and Bowa Construction, Related Midwest broke ground on 900 Randolph in Chicago on November 4th. When completed, 900 Randolph will introduce 300 residences to the Fulton Market neighborhood—with 20 percent to be designated as affordable.

Co-developed by Related Northwest and non-profit Central City Concern, Cedar Commons has opened in East Portland, offering permanently-supportive housing to some of the most vulnerable local residents. Central City Concern will also provide residents with on-site services such as mental health services and employment support and training.

Affordable development Willets Point breaks ground in Queens

On Wednesday, June 16th, the city officially broke ground on the environmental cleanup efforts needed for the Willets Point redevelopment in Queens. The project is being undertaken by a pair of developers called Queens Development Group, which includes Related Companies and Sterling Equities.

With a mission to help millions of young lower- to middle-income Londoners who are essential to the city’s economy, Pocket Living serves locals who cannot afford to buy a market rate home and don’t qualify for traditional affordable housing. Pocket Homes are discounted 20% below market value, and eligible purchasers are defined by their income levels, as well as where they live and work.
