What's Happening Around Our Affordable Communities Related Midwest breaks ground on affordable community The Adeline in Ann Arbor, MI On September 28, Related Midwest and the Ann Arbor Housing Commission broke ground on The Adeline, a 20-story affordable housing community that will bring 330 affordable homes to downtown Ann Arbor. The all-electric building will be Related Companies’ first nationally to use geothermal energy as its primary heating and cooling source and is set to open in 2028. Named in honor of Adeline Thompson, whose family’s historic restaurant was a local fixture in Ann Arbor for 37 years, The Adeline carries a lasting community legacy forward. Read More Related Affordable Foundation and KABOOM! unveil two playspaces at Gateway Apartments in Far Rockaway, NY On September 24, Related Affordable Foundation, Related Affordable and KABOOM! celebrated the construction of two newly rebuilt playspaces and a community garden at Gateway Apartments, a 365-unit affordable housing community in Far Rockaway that is home to more than 150 children. Built by 130 volunteers over the course of three days, the playspaces offer safe, beautiful and high-quality places where kids can play within their community. Additionally, the on-site community garden presents a peaceful place where residents can unwind and connect outdoors. New York State Assemblywoman Stacey Pheffer Amato of District 23 joined Related Affordable Foundation, KABOOM!, residents, and community members for a ribbon cutting to celebrate the new spaces.
