Related Affordable Foundation and nonprofit KABOOM! celebrated the creation of a kid-designed playspace at Southern Hills, which provides an active, social and safe place for kids to have fun and express themselves.

The Related Affordable Foundation, Related Midwest and After School Matters unveiled the “Love and Unity in the Community” mural at South Shore on The Park, a Related Midwest affordable development. The mural showcases the creativity and talent of 19 local teens from After School Matters, including 11 residents of South Shore on The Park.

Senior residents of Dayton, Ohio's fully renovated Biltmore Towers will now benefit from substantial upgrades to their residences and communal spaces, improving their quality of life for years to come.

At The Harriet Tubman Building in Far Rockaway, Related partnered with Win to provide tailored social services that address individual medical and clinical needs, educational opportunities, job development programs and more.

In March, NYC affordable community Willets Point unveiled The Shaping of New York, a vibrant new artwork created by muralist and visual anthropreneur Venazir Martinez. The large-scale artwork was created as part of the City Canvas program by the NYC Department of Cultural Affairs, and Venazir was selected by Queens Development Group—a partnership between Related Companies and Sterling Equities—in collaboration with organizations including NYCEDC. The vivid mural extends over 2,600 feet around Willets Point's construction fencing, adding color and New York City pride to the future site of the city's largest 100% affordable, new construction development in over 40 years. The art fence faces Willets Point Commons, an affordable residence with access to a modern amenity suite and outdoor space, that will start welcoming residents to the neighborhood this April.

On March 25, Chicago mixed-income community Roosevelt Square took home the 2026 CoStar Impact Award for Multifamily Development of the Year, recognized for creating new affordable housing, retail and the National Public Housing Museum. Developed by Related Midwest and built in partnership with the Chicago Housing Authority and the Chicago Department of Housing, Roosevelt Square's latest phase introduced 207 apartments to Chicago’s Near West Side that have access to retailers including a grocery store and pizzeria, as well as building amenities including a fitness center and a terrace with grills and a dog run.

On March 25, San Francisco affordable communities Amani and Nia were announced as Redevelopment of the Year at the 2026 CoStar Impact Awards, which recognizes leading commercial real estate transactions and projects that are making an impact in their neighborhoods. Part of the Sunnydale redevelopment, Amani and Nia are the result of a partnership between Related California, Mercy Housing California and the San Francisco Mayor's Office of Housing and Community Development to transform the Sunnydale-Velasco public housing community into a thriving mixed-income neighborhood that will offer an anticipated 1,700 new affordable and market rate homes, upgraded infrastructure and critical community-serving amenities.

Throughout Women’s History Month and to honor International Women’s Day, Related Affordable employees have been wearing purple to draw attention to women's myriad contributions, both in our offices and in our communities. Related Affordable team members have celebrated this tradition for four years running, visibly marking their appreciation for all the women in their lives and around the world who lead and make an impact.
