Related Affordable Foundation and nonprofit KABOOM! celebrated the creation of a kid-designed playspace at Southern Hills, which provides an active, social and safe place for kids to have fun and express themselves.

The Related Affordable Foundation, Related Midwest and After School Matters unveiled the “Love and Unity in the Community” mural at South Shore on The Park, a Related Midwest affordable development. The mural showcases the creativity and talent of 19 local teens from After School Matters, including 11 residents of South Shore on The Park.

Senior residents of Dayton, Ohio's fully renovated Biltmore Towers will now benefit from substantial upgrades to their residences and communal spaces, improving their quality of life for years to come.

At The Harriet Tubman Building in Far Rockaway, Related partnered with Win to provide tailored social services that address individual medical and clinical needs, educational opportunities, job development programs and more.

On March 5, Related California and BART broke ground on the first phase of the El Cerrito Plaza BART Station development—a major milestone in delivering connected, affordable multifamily housing to the Bay Area. 

Phase I will deliver 70 affordable apartments to this former existing BART-owned and operated surface parking lot within El Cerrito’s Downtown District. By creating high-quality affordable homes directly on BART land, the El Cerrito Plaza development will increase transit ridership, reduce greenhouse gas emissions and ease the Bay Area’s acute housing shortage.

In March, New Jersey affordable community Oceanport Gardens brought residents together for a fun afternoon of creativity and connection at Paint Day. Residents adorned canvases using watercolor paints and then took them home as keepsakes.

On February 17, the Marshall Field Gardens Community Center brought residents together for “Icons & Eats,” an interactive all-ages event honoring Black History Month with learning, culture and community engagement. Residents discovered the historical links between some of our most popular snack foods and the Black innovators who created them, participated in intergenerational dialogues about iconic Black figures, shared their own personal experiences and created memories with a vibrant photo backdrop that paid homage to Black culture. Thank you to all the residents who attended and help make this such an uplifting and enriching event!

On February 10, transformative affordable development Willets Point was featured in PIX11, joined by Related Companies EVP Frank Monterisi. Willets Point Commons, which presents 880 residences across two buildings along with public green space, is nearing completion in Queens and preparing for residents to move in starting this April. Beyond the vision to add 2,500 affordable homes and outdoor spaces to New York City, this development represents our commitment to shaping accessible neighborhoods where families can begin, grow and thrive. We look forward to welcoming our community this spring!
