Related Companies and Atria Senior Living debut new class of luxury senior living with the launch of Coterie

Located in the heart of the nation’s most captivating cities, Coterie stands for world-class wellness, hospitality, amenities, architecture and design.

Related Companies and Atria Senior Living have announced Coterie, a new category of luxury senior living—the only senior living brand developed in partnership between a leading senior living operator and a luxury real estate company. With thoughtfully designed residences in the United States’ most vibrant cities, Coterie seamlessly combines the modern conveniences of luxury living and five-star amenities with wellness services and state-of-the-art technology tailored to the older adult. The first community will open in San Francisco’s Cathedral Hill neighborhood in early 2022, followed by Hudson Yards in New York City in late 2022.

“Coterie is expertly crafting an environment where older adults live at the nexus of art, culture, wellness and cuisine. Residents will have the peace of mind that comes with living in a safe community staffed by a vaccinated workforce following industry-leading COVID-19 protocols,” said John Moore, Atria Senior Living CEO and chairman of the board. “The pandemic has made us all more aware of how important specialized care in modern society is—especially for older people,” he said.

Coterie’s unrivaled access to world-class health and wellness services and the presence of Mayo Clinic Healthy Living Program-certified wellness staff help ensure older adults can continue the lifestyles to which they are accustomed. Coterie communities include on-site private healthcare facilities with best-in-class treatment and diagnostic capabilities rooted in hospitality. Modern wellness amenities will feature fitness centers curated by Mayo Clinic, tailored nutrition and diet plans, yoga studios, heated indoor or outdoor pools (location-dependent), rooftop gardens, salons, master classes for learning and curated programs to nourish each resident’s mind, body and spirit.

“There is a level of convenience, community and culture that can only be enjoyed in cities—regardless of one’s age,” said Bryan Cho, executive vice president of Related Companies. “Coterie is Related and Atria’s innovative solution for adults who desire the best of urban living and wellness in spaces that achieve effortless elegance. At Coterie, every design element was intentionally chosen to enhance comfort and well-being while welcoming you into your personal sanctuary.”

Exceptional is standard at Coterie, and while each property’s design and services will be tailored to later-life needs, excellence in design, technology and dining will be a hallmark of the experience, including:

  • World-Class Architecture & Interior Design: Coterie’s luxury senior living communities incorporate modern architecture and purposeful interior design from award-winning firms. The Coterie Cathedral Hill and Coterie Hudson Yards residences have been designed by Handel Architects with interiors by March and White Design (MAWD). Residences feature full-size kitchens with custom cabinetry, integrated Miele and other top-of-the-line appliances, nine-foot floor-to-ceiling windows, luxe bathrooms with custom features and more.
  • Technological Tour de Force: The Coterie Smart Home System combines innovation with comfort, putting residents in command of on-demand features including smart lighting, automated shades, a smart thermostat and more. Additionally, circadian lighting in Coterie’s memory care neighborhood simulates sunlight patterns to help regulate residents’ natural rhythm, energy levels, productivity and sleep quality.
  • Elevated Culinary Experiences: Curated dining experiences by chefs trained at Michelin star-rated restaurants satisfy the high-end expectations of the metropolitan foodie. Coterie offers an array of culinary options, including multiple dining venues, espresso bars, cocktail lounges, and restaurants featuring sophisticated and seasonal menus tailored to residents’ preferences.

At Coterie Cathedral Hill, residents will enjoy sweeping views of iconic landmarks and easy access to some of the city’s best neighborhoods. It boasts 208 units, ranging from studios to two-bedroom residences and friendship suites, and offers approximately 40,000 square feet of luxury indoor-outdoor amenities, including a 24/7 staff-attended lounge, state-of-the-art fitness center curated by Mayo Clinic, heated rooftop pool, cinema, gardening plots, a landscaped pet park and bocce ball courts. Additionally, the unrivaled culinary experiences highlighted by five in-house dining options, immersive engagement and expertly adapted wellness programs will inspire discerning older adults to reach new heights. Coterie’s modern approach to senior living brings residences imagined post-COVID-19, with pandemic learnings, and supported by both Atria and Related’s expertise in evidence-driven protocols.

The Coterie Cathedral Hill sales office is now open, with prices starting at $8,000 per month for a studio to larger two-bedroom residences starting at $16,660 per month.
