Related Companies today announced the appointment of Stephen C. Winter as Vice President of Commercial Leasing. In this position, he will lead the commercial leasing efforts for the four commercial towers in the Hudson Yards development on Manhattan's west side. Winter joins Related from CBRE where he was responsible for the leasing efforts of more than 1,000,000 square feet including space at 599 Lexington Avenue, 399 Park Avenue, 250 West 55th Street, 717 Fifth Avenue, as well as 10 Hudson Yards, the future home of Coach, Inc., L'Oréal USA, SAP and Fairway Market.
Stephen will continue to work closely with CBRE who represents Related Companies and Oxford Properties Group as the exclusive leasing agent for Hudson Yards. "Never before has New York City been able to offer commercial office tenants a state-of-the-art work environment in a true mixed-use community," said Related's Hudson Yards President L. Jay Cross. "Stephen has already been integral in attracting world class brands to the Hudson Yards development in his role at CBRE and I could not be more pleased that he will bring his expertise full time to Related as we continue to build New York City's new business hub on the west side of Manhattan."
"Having worked with Related while at CBRE, I know it is an organization that is equipped with the most sophisticated and tenacious real estate development professionals who are dedicated to transforming the landscape of New York City and delivering a world class mixed-use community at Hudson Yards," said Stephen Winter. "When completed, each of these commercial office towers will provide select New York tenants with a globally competitive work environment distinguished by its distinct architecture, unmatched accessibility and unrivaled amenities. As a native New Yorker, I could not imagine a more exciting opportunity and I am thrilled to join the Related team."
Mr. Winter has often been recognized as a leader in the commercial real estate industry. Most recently, the Commercial Observer recognized Mr. Winter in its 30 Under 30 ranking, and in 2012, the Real Estate Board of New York named Stephen the Most Promising Commercial Salesperson of the Year - marking the first time a CBRE broker received this prestigious award. In 2011, Winter was named "Rookie of the Year," an honor awarded to the most promising young broker in CBRE's New York office. Mr. Winter is a member of the Real Estate Board of New York and sits on the CBRE Brokerage Advisory Board for the Americas. The development of Hudson Yards brings a unique opportunity to the New York City commercial real estate market, which has long been plagued by an aging stock of office space.
The Hudson Yards office towers make New York City more competitive because they have been designed for visionaries who demand a globally competitive work place and want to increase productivity and efficiency. The Hudson Yards neighborhood also offers employees a wide range of amenities not offered in other office spaces. Ten Hudson Yards, located on the north side of 30th Street and 10th Avenue, is under construction and is slated for completion in 2015. The future home of Coach Inc., L'Oréal USA, SAP and a Fairway Market, the tower is already over 85 percent committed with only 11 floors still available for occupancy. The LEED Gold tower, designed by acclaimed global architects Kohn Pedersen Fox Associates (KPF), will stand 52 stories tall and feature panoramic views of the city and the Hudson River. Ten Hudson Yards also promises to be one of the most unique buildings in the city due to its integration with the celebrated High Line and direct connection to the Hudson Yards public plaza.
Construction on 30 Hudson Yards, the office tower located on the south side of 33rd Street and 10th Avenue, will begin in early 2014. Also designed by KPF, this 80-story tower will be the fourth tallest building in New York City when it is completed in 2018, dramatically altering the New York City skyline. Every office will have sweeping views across the Hudson River, lower Manhattan and midtown. Thirty Hudson Yards will also offer a range of first class amenities including a direct underground connection to the new No. 7 Subway station - providing door-to-door service for commuters, and what will be New York's highest outdoor observation deck. The base of the tower also provides extra-large floors making the tower a perfect environment for large format uses like trading, news and entertainment studios. Hudson Yards will be a pulsating hub of connectivity, community, culture and creativity. It is anticipated that more than 24 million people will visit Hudson Yards every year.
The site itself will include 17 million square feet of commercial and residential space, more than 100 shops and restaurants, approximately 5,000 residences, a unique cultural space, 14-acres of public open space, a new 750-seat public school and a 150-room luxury hotel - all offering unparalleled amenities for residents, employees and guests. Its development will create more than 23,000 construction jobs, and when completed in 2024, more than 40,000 people a day will either work in or call Hudson Yards their home.
