Related's residences and city centers host community-centered Earth Month events

Every year at Related, Earth Month signals the arrival of spring and the chance to reflect on our relationship with the planet. Across the country, our residences and destinations provided opportunities for our residents and visitors to engage with their creative sides, integrate wellness practices in their lives and appreciate simple pleasures like taking care of a new plant. Read on for a recap of what we did during Earth Month.

In New York City, Edge invited visitors to explore their creative side in honor of Earth Month. On April 21st, Edge x MoMA: Sketch in the Sky offered a one-hour drawing class on the observation deck with Kit Fraser, who guided visitors as they captured the NYC skyline and created drawings inspired by modernist artist Georgia O'Keeffe. Visitors also received passes to MoMA's new exhibition, "Georgia O'Keeffe: To See Takes Time."

On Earth Day, Related Rentals brought residents on a fun excursion to the New York Botanical Garden in the Bronx. Residents experienced "The Orchid Show: Natural Heritage," designed by artist Lily Kwong as an immersive experience where visitors were surrounded by thousands of orchids in creative arrangements.

Also in New York City, Related Kids Club partnered with The Craft Studio to teach children how to create their very own terra cotta herb gardens at multiple residences. Luxury condominium Lantern House invited residents to an Earth Day Planting Workshop with The Old Yew, where they learned everything they needed to pot their own plants as they enjoyed Van Leeuwen's special Vegan Planet Earth ice cream flavor.

In West Palm Beach, a special community yoga class was held at The Square on Earth Day, with donations benefitting Piper’s Angels Foundation’s The Crossing for Cystic Fibrosis. Eszti Gottschall led the slow flow yoga class along Rosemary Avenue, catering to practitioners of all levels. Inspired by the healing power of the ocean for people who live with cystic fibrosis, which is a terminal lung disease, The Crossing for Cystic Fibrosis challenges participants to an 80-mile paddling adventure from The Bahamas to Florida.

Another Earth Day event at The Square, "Gardening is for EVERYONE!," was presented by children's bookstore Rohi's Readery. This complimentary event featured Anuella Alexandre of A Green Community, who taught kids how to garden while they also learned about their own ancestral ties to gardening.

Also at The Square on Earth Day, Blend PBC led two classes to empower visitors on their health journeys while connecting them with nature. Trindy Gourmet and Blend CEO Trinnette Morris taught visitors how to grow their own microgreens, providing them with take-home kits to get started growing. Alpha Herbs CEO Keith William led a workshop all about immunity and herbs that keep bodies healthy, letting visitors craft their own personal immunity tea blends to take home.

In San Francisco, luxury residences Fifteen Fifty, The Paramount and Avery 450 and Chicago residence 500 Lake Shore Drive give away complimentary succulents to residents, adding a touch of green to their homes for Earth Month and beyond.
