Related's affordable colleagues are making waves around the country, exemplifying their dedication to residents and inspiring progress in the affordable housing industry. Recently, Betty Shum, SVP of property operations for Related Affordable’s East Region, spoke at an Asset & Property Management panel discussion at Montclair State University’s State of Affordable Housing event. The conference brought together industry leaders to share their perspectives, in addition to connecting professionals with students who were interested in pursuing careers in real estate development. In Boston, Nick Boehm, Vice President, Affordable Acquisitions at Related Affordable, participated as a speaker during Bisnow’s Boston Affordable Housing Conference. His panel discussion focused on how flexible capital and creative solutions can help pave the way for more affordable housing projects. In Chicago, Sarah Wick, Senior Vice President, Affordable Housing at Related Midwest, was honored with the 2025 Graaskamp Center Innovator Award by the Graaskamp Center for Real Estate at the Wisconsin School of Business. Now the second woman to ever win the award, Wick was selected for her visionary leadership and community advocacy in the affordable housing sector. Among her accomplishments include playing an important role in getting the Affordable Illinois legislation passed, which incentivizes developers to designate 20% of each project's units as affordable and will lead to the creation of much-needed affordable residences in the state.Thank you to all of our team members for their contributions as they help serve our communities and shape the future of affordable housing.
