Starting on May 13th, Hudson Yards hosted the destination's first Cycle for Survival event over the course of three days, combining high-energy indoor cycling with fundraising for rare cancer research. More than 20 employees from Related joined the ride, which had a total of over 2,400 participants cycling on stationary bikes just outside the Public Square & Gardens. Expert instructors from Equinox—a founding partner of Cycle for Survival—guided participants riding in the outdoor tent, alongside upbeat music and pom-pom waving. Cheering on the cyclists was a crowd of cancer survivors and supporters who told their inspiring personal stories on an outside stage. Marketing VP Natalie Johnson led a cycling team of Related employees in honor of late colleague Stephanie Stewart, who succumbed to cancer last year, raising over $35,000 to battle cancer. All proceeds raised from the event went towards funding research and clinical trials for rare cancers, led by Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center (MSK).
