On May 4th, Related Companies welcomed a group of 40 students from the New York City Housing Authority (NYCHA) Real Estate Scholars Program, which opens doors for NYCHA residents to explore opportunities in commercial real estate. NYU Schack Institute of Real Estate, in partnership with Public Housing Community Fund, runs the free program for students in 11th and 12th grades who come from underrepresented backgrounds and show a passion for the real estate industry. Over the course of six weeks, students learn about fundamental aspects of commercial real estate, such as design and development, the history of real estate, project feasibility, real estate valuation and property/asset management.
As part of their program, NYCHA students also visit development sites throughout the city, gaining key insights from teams who have brought their projects to life. During their Related Companies visit, Related EVP Andrew Rosen led students on an engaging tour of the Hudson Yards neighborhood, including stops at 50 Hudson Yards, 30 Hudson Yards and Edge.
