From September 15th to October 15th, Related mixed-use neighborhoods honored Hispanic Heritage Month with festive events for visitors of all ages. Each gathering acknowledged the vibrant culture, flavors and history of Hispanic Americans, as well as their contributions to the communities.
In West Palm Beach, Galley at Hilton West Palm Beach nodded to Hispanic Heritage Month with a month-long rotation of specially curated menu items. Each dish was inspired by one of Galley's chefs, representing their cultural background and culinary traditions. September's kick-off dish was Peruvian Coconut Ceviche, served in a coconut shell over a bed of rice and topped with plantains, followed by a new dish each week evoking the tastes of Colombian, Brazilian and Cuban cuisines.
In New York City, Salsa at Hudson Yards hosted a fun-filled and free dance event presented by The Bronx Brewery and The Salsa Project. The Public Square & Gardens hosted the celebration, where visitors enjoyed craft beers by The Bronx Brewery and learned how to salsa dance together. The Salsa Project is a local organization with the mission to introduce salsa to younger generations and to build community, preserving Latin culture and history through the act of dance.
Also in New York City, Bronx Terminal Market organized Festival Latino, an energetic and music-filled party for the whole family. Visitors learned how to salsa dance, decorated castanets, played traditional game Hoyito, broke open piñatas and moved to the beats created by Bronx percussion group BombaYo. Bronx Terminal Market's retailers also provided food and beverage samples and giveaways, and Dora the Explorer made a special live appearance. Watch the video for more.
