Over the course of two days in early May, local organization New York Restoration Project (NYRP) created community gardens for residents of NY's Marine Terrace. Funded by Related Affordable Foundation, the project involved installing 10 garden beds—which residents can use for plants, flowers, herbs, fruits and vegetables—as well as a trellis for vined plants and a fig tree. Previously, in April, NYRP gathered residents so that they could share their vision for the community gardens, ensuring that they would have a say in what they would receive. Now, residents can get involved with a series of events and workshops hosted by NYRP's engagement team, which will teach them how to cultivate and care for their new gardens.
