On April 24, the families of New York's River Pointe Apartments affordable community received two new playspaces, which were built collaboratively by a dedicated group of volunteers and residents over the course of three days. Related Affordable Foundation, Related Affordable and national nonprofit KABOOM! organized the Build Week events, and these new playspaces represent the teams' sixth successful collaboration to date. Working together over the course of three days, volunteers helped construct playspaces that can be enjoyed by River Pointe's community for years to come, which were created in collaboration with our youngest residents. Earlier this year, the children of River Pointe participated in a Design Day event where they dreamed up what their ideal playspace would look like so that they could feel empowered and shape their future playspaces. River Pointe Apartments also recently completed comprehensive renovations, including a redesigned community room, a newly installed computer lab and a community garden located between the two playgrounds.
