Moynihan Train Hall, the long-awaited extension to Penn Station, has opened its doors to travelers and revealed three NYC-themed blue chip art installations to enliven daily commutes. Along one wall, Kehinde Wiley's Go (2020) presents a hand-painted glass triptych of young Black breakdancers, including visual references to Michelangelo's Creation of Adam in the Sistine Chapel. Then there is Stan Douglas' Penn Station’s Half Century (2020), a series of large photographic panels depicting recreations of notable and intimate moments at Penn Station through the ages. The third installation is The Hive by Elmgreen & Dragset, a gravity-defying block of 91 upside-down skyscrapers that collectively weigh 30,000 pounds and feature 72,000 tiny sparkling LED lights. We are proud to have been part of the re-development efforts of this great New York City landmark and a transformation that celebrates the legacy of the original Penn Station.
