In 2020, high school senior Genesis Grant learned that she was selected as the first participant in the Related Scholar Program, which was established by a $6 million gift from Related Founder and Chairman Stephen Ross and CEO Jeff Blau to further the university's commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion. As a Related Scholar, Genesis received a full ride to attend the University of Michigan and joined the BBA program at the Michigan Ross School of Business, where she also received unparalleled access to opportunities within the real estate industry. The Related Scholar Program was designed to bring together a group of talented students who are interested in developing real estate careers. With support from the Weiser Center for Real Estate, Related Scholars are invited to informational events, connected to industry mentors and supported on their searches for internships.

This summer, after winning the Blau Internship Scholarship from the Weiser Center for Real Estate, Genesis joined Related's internship program in New York City. She learned directly from an extensive group of Related team members about what a career in real estate could look like, diving into areas like law, marketing and development.
