Launching sales later this year, The Cortland will introduce 144 condominium residences on West Chelsea’s waterfront, representing a new collaboration between notable architecture and design firms Robert A.M. Stern Architects and Olson Kundig. Located at 555 West 22nd Street across from Hudson River Park, The Cortland evokes Chelsea’s unique industrial identity with a façade incorporating limestone, brick and metal details. The development represents Seattle-based Olson Kundig’s first multi-family residential project in New York City, applying the firm’s refined yet spirited style to the residence’s interiors. Olson Kundig’s commitment to using hand-crafted and tactile details adds a welcoming spirit to the lobby, common areas and each residence, which range from studios to five-bedroom homes, in addition to a penthouses. Within each home, generously high ceilings meet open plan layouts and a warm, natural color palette to enhance residents’ comfort and allow in maximal sunlight.
