Luke Forelle, an associate in the Affordable group, will attempt to break a world record by running across Iceland starting on July 5th to raise funds and awareness for Homes for our Troops (HFOT). Luke and his running partner will attempt to run approximately 60 miles a day for a total of 435 miles.

Homes for our Troops (HFOT) is a non-profit organization dedicated to building and donating specially adapted, custom homes nationwide for the most severely injured veterans from Iraq and Afghanistan. To date, the group has helped hundreds of veterans by providing homes that are safe, adaptive and easily accessible at zero cost to the veteran. One veteran helped by HFOT was Luke’s fellow Marine, Corporal Garrett Carnes, who was seriously injured by an IED during their deployment to Afghanistan.

More than 100 veterans still await entry into the HFOT program, and Luke’s goal is to raise $25,000 to directly benefit his fellow service members in need. From June 8th through July 30th, Related will provide a double match on all employee donations made to HFOT in support of Luke’s efforts. We are proud to support Luke on his journey and to support veterans in need.
