This summer and fall, Backyard at Hudson Yards Presented by Wells Fargo returns to the Public Square & Gardens with an activity-packed schedule of events that offers something for every visitor. Back by popular demand, the 30-foot Big Screen will present live sports games and movie screenings that are free and open to the public. Beloved international sports events planned to screen include the Tennis Grand Slam Championship Majors, Golf Majors, Basketball Playoffs, Hockey Playoffs, Preakness Stages and cycling events. Starting in fall, fan favorite blockbuster films will play every Thursday night, with a full film schedule to be released in the coming weeks. Plenty of convenient rotating food truck and drink options are only steps away from Backyard's entertainment, such as New England-style seafood shack Jibs, which will be open daily with outdoor dining in a festive setting. Swoon’s Airstream will pop up from June 12th-July 12th with refreshing sugar-free drinks, including their signature lemonade.
Backyard’s open-air environment encourages visitor interaction and relaxation within a lively, casual atmosphere during New York City’s prime months for outdoor enjoyment. For the first time, the city’s concert mainstay The Bowery Presents is programming 10 weeks of free live musical performances at Hudson Yards. The concerts will kick off June 1st and will take place every Wednesday in the Public Square & Gardens at the Wells Fargo Stage, with a full artist lineup to be announced soon. For families, Union Square Play will take over Backyard in August with an immersive gaming experience designed by Jennie Monness. Children from 0 to 5 will play inside an open-air yurt filled with fun and interactive activities. Fitness buffs will also rejoice at SoulCycle’s outdoor tent, where they can work up a sweat by joining signature spin classes. Stay tuned for more Backyard announcements coming soon.
