Bruce A. Beal, Jr. is President and a Partner of Related Companies where he is responsible for directing the development process across all asset classes throughout the country, including acquisition, finance, design and construction. In his role, Mr. Beal also oversees Related’s operating portfolio and Related Affordable, one of the largest privately held affordable housing development and preservationist groups in the United States with more than 61,000 affordable and workforce homes.
Mr. Beal first joined Related in 1995 and over the years has grown the business to include new areas of focus including the Related Rentals brand, known for outstanding design, amenities and service, and a portfolio of more than 6,500 luxury-condominium homes designed by world-renowned architects and interior designers. In 2013, Mr. Beal led the formation of Related Beal, a strategic partnership with the Beal Companies, one of the oldest and most respected real estate development firms in Boston, founded in 1878. Together, the companies have transformed key areas in the region including the redevelopment of Lovejoy Wharf, Kenmore Square and the development of Innovation Square, a leading life sciences complex anchored by Vertex Pharmaceuticals.
Mr. Beal oversaw the complex design, engineering and construction of the multi-billion redevelopment of the working rail yards on Manhatan’s West Side into Hudson Yards, a thriving neighborhood with more than 9 million square feet of commercial space, 1,600 homes and 5 acres of open space. Mr. Beal also led Related’s investment into American manufacturing and supply chain by expanding the company’s vertically integrated construction business with the founding of New Hudson Facades, a leading curtain wall designer, manufacturer and installer in Linwood, Pennsylvania, and Cimolai-HY, a structural steel designer and fabricator in Oleon, New York.
Mr. Beal is a trustee for New York-Presbyterian Hospital, the Citizens Budget Commission and Riverdale Country School in New York City. He also serves on the Metropolitan Museum of Art Real Estate Council and REBNY’s Executive Committee, Board of Governors and Housing Committee. He previously served on the Board Directors of the Community Preservation Corporation and Friends of the High Line.
Mr. Beal graduated from Harvard University with a Bachelor of Arts degree.
