Hudson Yards is the largest private real estate development in the history of the United States. Today, tens of thousands of people work in, visit and call Hudson Yards their home. The neighborhood includes approximately 12 million square feet of commercial and residential space; dozens of shops; a collection of restaurants; thousands of residences; The Shed, a new center for artistic invention; 5 acres of public gardens and groves; and an Equinox® branded luxury hotel with more than 200 rooms—all offering unparalleled amenities for residents, employees and guests. The Eastern Rail Yards was completed in 2019 and contains soaring commercial towers 10 Hudson Yards, 30 Hudson Yards, 50 Hudson Yards and 55 Hudson Yards; The Shops at Hudson Yards, and a unique cultural monument featuring New York's Staircase by Thomas Heatherwick of Heatherwick Studio. The Eastern Rail Yards is located at W 30th Street to W 34th Street between 10th Avenue and 11th Avenue.

When the Western Yards are complete, new public green space, a 750-seat public school and more vibrant places to live, work and play will extend all the way to the Hudson River. Hudson Yards has a substantial economic impact on the New York City economy with leading companies and buildings bringing thousands of direct jobs to the West Side. Once fully operational, the development will contribute nearly $19 billion annually to New York City’s Gross Domestic Product (GDP), accounting for 2.5 percent of the citywide GDP. It will also contribute nearly $500 million annually in New York City taxes.

The complete Hudson Yards development will include two “platforms” constructed to bridge over 30 active Long Island Rail Road (LIRR) train tracks, three subsurface rail tunnels utilized by Amtrak and New Jersey Transit and a fourth passageway, the Gateway tunnel, currently under construction. Hudson Yards’ completed buildings extend through the finished platform over the Eastern Rail Yard. When the platform over the Western Rail Yard is completed, the platforms will cover approximately three quarters of the rail yards below and give rise to even more transformative places and spaces above.
